The truth is, many “accidents” are someone’s fault, and the reason I put the word accidents in inverted commas is that they could have be totally avoided. Unfortunately, if such an accident does occur, then it could not be avoided, and here we are, with a smouldering wreck, thankfully no injuries, but without witnesses, a very hard struggle to prove it was not your fault.

I would love to say this gadget gives you a twelve second warning that you are likely to be hit or collide with another road user, but that level of technology has not been realised yet, alongside a microwave sized box that materialises whatever food you fancy from the surrounding air molecules, negated grocery shopping and the awful waste of space that the cupboards and fridge freezer took up...

However, this gadget does exist, and can give peace of mind and security to every trip you take, be it as a taxi driver, courier, or the school run with a stopover for bread and milk. The T-eye automated driving recorder is your witness. It sits not in the passenger seat, but discretely behind the interior mirror, and gives a full view both forward and aft from the driving position. Every trip, it records the traffic and incidents tirelessly, with all information being stored should it be necessary for review or evidence.

The device has two state of the art 170 degree solid state video systems offering a combined 340 degree recordable viewing range, with GPS enhanced video recording. It detects a collision and sudden acceleration or braking conditions using a 3 axis accelerometer, recording compressed video at 16 frames per second at full VGA resolution of 640 x 480. The GPS system continually logs vehicle speed, trajectory and location, becoming the most reliable witness in any questionable incident.

Included is PC software to view GPS data and video files simultaneously, proving the speed you were adhering to when the collision/near miss occurred, together with location and all surrounding views from the other windows, as though you had a reliable witness in every seat.

If other people drive your car (spouse, siblings or offspring for example) or you have pool or hire cars for your business, this device can give protection to your integrity and prove the speed and conditions relating to that mysterious scrape you KNOW was not there when you last drove it.
